Summer

Baltimore comes to life during the warm summer months. It is the most popular time of the year for visitors, making it vibrant with people. The temperatures are hot and humid, so wear light and breathable clothing. Temperatures can easily rise to the 90s during July and August. Visiting during the summer is ideal because this is when the greatest number of events happen.

While events are happening all the time, some of the most notable include the city's biggest art festival, Artscape. Groove to the sounds of the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival, or celebrate the birth of our nation with the Fourth of July Fireworks. Finally, Summer Restaurant Week celebrates local culinary culture with restaurants throughout Baltimore offering prix-fixe menus.

Spring

There is the shoulder spring season before the hustle and bustle of summer. It is a wonderful time to be in Baltimore as the winter weather fades. Temperatures in spring are pleasant, ranging from the 50s to the 70s. Spring is the start of baseball season. Buy tickets to an Orioles game.

Festivals and events such as the Baltimore Wine Festival and the Charm City Bluegrass Festival also begin to take place. Check out the Kinetic Sculpture Race. It's a day of family-friendly humor and fun as artists race homemade sculptures from one end of Baltimore to the other. Finally, Preakness Stakes take place in May. This famous race is the second in the prestigious Triple Crown Series that also includes The Belmont Stakes and the Kentucky Derby.

Fall

The hot summer temperatures begin to cool in fall, and the humidity becomes more bearable. You can expect temperatures to be in the 60s and 70s, making it perfect weather for spending time outside. Similar to summer, there are plenty of festivals and events throughout the city. In addition to seafood festivals, there is the Madonnari Arts Festival and the Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival. The Halloween festival is sure to impress as it draws over 12,000 spectators.

Winter

Visiting Baltimore in winter can be a challenging experience with cold temperatures. You can expect highs in the 40s and 50s and lows in the 20s. If you visit Baltimore in winter, the best time is during the holiday season. The city has a unique charm with the Miracle on 34th Street and German Christmas Village. Miracle on 34th Street is in Hampden, where the entire street glows with decorations and lights. The German Christmas Village overtakes West Shore Park in Inner Harbor from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. Dozens of vendors sell gifts and traditional German food. Then late in March is the St. Patrick's Day Parade. This parade has occurred for over 60 years and draws thousands of people.
